Chief Louis Crossing Project and Community Update – August 2025

We’re excited to share that Chief Louis Pharmacy – IDA will be the first business to open in Building B at Chief Louis Crossing. Set to open toward the beginning of September, this Tk̓emlúps-owned pharmacy marks a meaningful step forward in supporting wellness, employment, and self-determination for Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc.

Meet the Team

Alexa Dauk (RPh), Pharmacist

Alexa is an Indigenous pharmacist from Spuzzum First Nation, a Nlaka’pamux First Nation. Raised in Kamloops, Alexa earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from UBC and became a licensed pharmacist in 2018. She brings diverse experience from across the pharmacy industry, most recently with Kipp Mallery. As a self-identifying Indigenous woman, Alexa is passionate about Plan W Pharmacare coverage and ensuring patients receive care that is both holistic and respectful. Alexa enjoys life with her husband Nathan, her son Owen, and stepchildren Lorelai and Jayce.

Mikayla McKay, Pharmacy Assistant

Mikayla is an Indigenous pharmacy assistant from the Michel Band. She has lived in Kamloops most of her life and brings over four years of pharmacy experience. With a strong passion for Plan W and patient care, she is eager to bring the same sense of connection she found in rural practice to Chief Louis Pharmacy. Outside of work, Mikayla enjoys camping, hiking, and spending time with her partner and their pets—cats Diesel and Luna, and dog Rusty.
